Oncology Department of General Hospital, Ernakulam is one of the busiest sections of the institution and is the one of the biggest in Government sector. Around 300 new cancer cases are detected in this department every month, which is even more than that in a government Medical College. Radiotherapy department renders its service to around 100 patients per day.

Cancer ICU

Cancer ICU is meant for febrile neutropenic patient chemotherapy. Neutropenic chemotherapy induced condition, if not treated in time it is lethal. Neutropenic patients are prone to infection due to their immuno suppression, hence taking merits, barrier nursing in order to prevent hospital acquired infection which is considered as an oncological emergency.
